Welcome to Latin’s 50th Anniversary
When Charlotte Latin School first opened its doors in September 1970, we were just two small buildings. But we had big dreams.
Amid challenging times both locally and nationally, our founders set out to create a lasting legacy of opportunity, not a temporary educational alternative. This place was built mindfully, strategically and creatively by all the families who first called Latin home.
From that earnest foundation, a remarkable school has sprung. Early traditions of shared responsibility and cooperation continue here today, fostering a tight-knit sense of community. Latin is our home. It is here that we champion the timeless vision of our founders: to provide an education the way it ought to be for everyone while nurturing the dreamers of today and the leaders of tomorrow.
This school year we celebrate 50 years of Charlotte Latin School. It is an opportunity for us to reflect on our past, enjoy our present and prepare for the future. And, most importantly, it is a time for us to come together to remember what it means to be part of the Charlotte Latin family.
Events begin with our September 9, 2019, Founders’ Day and continue all year long, with a special 50th Anniversary Oyster Roast on November 9, 2019. Please reference this special anniversary website often for more stories, events and opportunities to engage with us!
Most of all, we are eager to welcome you home during the 2019-20 school year. Latin would not be what it is without you, and we would love to see you.
