Covered Walkways Are Not Just Simple Things
They are simple things — covered walkways that lead from one building to another — but they are a part of the fabric of Charlotte Latin as much as the school colors and the legacy of achievement.
The buildings may have changed but the covered walkways, which have protected Hawks from rain storms and the bright sun for years, are cherished as much for the memories they have provided as for the protection they have offered.
Regardless of when you graduated, the covered walkways are part of your Latin experience. Whether it was walking in a single file line from class to lunch in Lower School, or lining up under a covered walkway clad in a navy cap and gown for graduation, the walkways symbolize memorable moments in our time at Latin.
They are simple structures but they spark memories of fond times spent with friends walking from class to class. It was along those walkways we grew together, learned together and laughed together, dodging raindrops along the way.
The campus that once consisted of two small brick buildings, is now composed of much more, yet the covered walkways have remained untouched, symbolizing longevity and sparking memories inside alumni as they walk through campus.
